Mr. Kwaku Appiah-Menka joined SIC Life Company Limited in November 2017, as the Deputy Managing Director with vast experience in Finance, Banking, Investment, Marketing, Sales and Research.
A product of Mfantsipim School, he started his career as a Sales and Research Intern with the Marketing Division of Turner International (CNN) in London before joining the Project Finance team of the Emerging Markets Division of Standard Corporate & Merchant Bank in Johannesburg. Subsequently he joined the Treasury Department of Barclays Bank Ghana Limited (ABSA) as a Dealer on the Money Markets desk where he gained experience in currency trading and settlement, securities and investment analysis.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Social Studies from the University of Manchester in England and a Masters of Business Administration from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School in Atlanta, Georgia. He also has a Diploma in Petroleum, Oil and Gas Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration as well as Diploma in Applied Insurance Studies from the Malta International Training Centre and Ghana Insurance College. He is an Affiliate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) and recently completed a course in Leadership at Harvard University.
Prior to his appointment with SIC Life Company Limited, he worked in an executive management position of Appiah Menka Complex Limited.
Mr. Daniel Kwasi Saforo joined SIC Life Insurance LTD, in August 2020 as Chief Finance Officer. With over 15 years’ experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry and a total of 23 years post-university education cognate experience, spanning various sectors, Daniel has garnered rich expertise in Finance, Accounting, Auditing and Administration.
Prior to his appointment with SIC Life Company Limited, he worked with Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited (Ghana Re) from 2012 to 2020 rising through the ranks to the position of Assistant General Manager, Finance. A team leader who championed the preparation of Ghana Re’s maiden group consolidated financial statements with all the accompanying country-specific diverse laws and regulations occasioning complex accounting treatments. Daniel is tactful and diplomatic but purposeful in achieving results and unyielding when confronted with challenges.
He worked with World Vision International, Ghana as Finance Manager between 2009 and 2012. In 2002, he joined the insurance industry as Deputy Chief Finance Officer of Network Assurance Company Limited which later became known as Industrial and General Insurance Company Ghana Limited (IGI). He was appointed the Head of Audit and Compliance for IGI between 2008 and 2009. Prior to that, he worked with Air Liquide Ghana Limited as Internal Auditor from 1999 to 2001. Dan Saforo started his career in 1997 with an auditing firm that was partly in charge of the auditing of European Union Microprojects in Ghana.
Daniel Kwasi Saforo is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK and holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Accounting Option) from the University of Ghana, Legon. Additionally, he has attended several financial management, insurance and leadership courses in Ghana and abroad; including Thailand, Senegal, Nigeria, India and United Kingdom.
Mrs. Vera Kate Haizel-Cobbina is a Chartered Insurer with over Twenty Five (25) years’ experience in insurance marketing and operations. She is currently the Chief Operations Officer of SIC Life Insurance LTD, a company she joined in November, 2015. Prior to joining SIC Life, she was the Chief Technical Operations Officer for GLICO Life Insurance Company, a company she worked for Twenty-Four (24) years.
Vera is a self-motivated career-oriented person, with needed experience in service operations and marketing. She is also an innate organiser, innovative, full of initiative and drive. She possesses strong interpersonal skills and has the ability to build relationships, motivate and mentor people. These qualities earned her the opportunity to be part of the transition team, which successfully off-shored the British Gas Strategic Team to India when she was working at SIEMENS Energy Services in the UK. Her gratification is seeing her team members rewarded.
Vera’s selflessness, meticulousness, truthfulness coupled with high professionalism have chalked her a lot of success in her career. Her astute problem solving skills, led to her appointment as the Chief Marketing Operations Officer – (Individual Life) for Glico Life, when the marketing department was at the verge of collapse in 2013. During this period, her ingenuity, gave birth to the “Insurance Clinic” concept, which has now become a marketing paradigm for all the insurance companies in Ghana.
Vera has expertise in life insurance risk assessment, underwriting, claims and reinsurance negotiations. She was part of the team that prepared a Five-Year-Strategic-Plan for GLICO Life, which was adopted in May 2015. Her passion for Information Technology is very enormous; this earned her the opportunity to coordinate affairs when Glico Life was adopting a new software; LifeLine in the year 2000 and subsequently SLAMS in 2011. Her know-how in life insurance operations and interest in Information Technology has led to a massive positive transformation in the operations of SIC Life since she joined the company.
Vera serves on a number of committees of the Ghana Insurers Association. She holds a Master of Business Administration Degree in Risk and Insurance from the University of Nottingham (UK), Bachelor of Arts and Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast, and an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK). She has attended a lot of international conferences in different countries.
